The University of Montpellier obtains dual certification for “Professional equality between women and men” and “Diversity”
The University of Montpellier (UM) is the first university to be certified for both "Professional Equality between Women and Men" and "Diversity" following an external audit conducted by AFNOR Certification. This dual certification covers all departments, schools, and institutes, as well as the university's central and shared management and services. This is a further step towards amplifying and disseminating the culture of equality and diversity promoted by the institution.
A lasting commitment to equality and diversity
Developing a genuine culture focused on the values of equality and diversity is not just a matter of meeting regulatory requirements; above all, it means going beyond those requirements and making inclusion a central element that permeates the entire institution. This dual certification is another milestone achieved by the University as part of its commitment to continuous improvement, which aims to promote responsible and exemplary practices. As the first university to obtain these two certifications, UM is at the forefront of professional equality and diversity in higher education.
Concrete actions and a forward-thinking policy to support equality, diversity, and inclusion
Numerous events are organized each year by the University of Montpellier to combat all forms of discrimination, such as "Donner des Elles à l'UM" (Empowering Women at UM), awareness days against violence against women and LGBTphobia, as well as actions to combat racism and anti-Semitism. All these actions are part of various strategic documents of the institution, such as the gender equality plan, the disability master plan, and the quality of life at work plan.
This dual "Equality and Diversity" certification is testament to the ongoing efforts made by the University and its community. This long-term commitment has been recognized in the THE Impact ranking, where UM ranksfirst among French institutions and67th worldwide in terms of reducing inequalities, and with the award of the European HRS4R (Human Resources Strategy for Researchers) label, a testament to its commitment to meeting international standards in human resources.
