The University of Montpellier partners with "CommOCEAN 2022," the 5th International Conference on Marine Science Communication
From November 30 to December 1, the 5th international conference on marine science communication, "CommOCEAN 2022," will take place in Sète. This conference will be attended by Jacques Mercier, Vice President Research the University of Montpellier, Gilles Lericolais, President of the European Marine Board, François Lallier, Coordinator of the French Network of Marine Universities, Benoît Ildefonse, Director of the Montpellier Geosciences Laboratory, and Laurent Dagorn, Director of the MARBEC Laboratory.
What is "CommOCEAN" 2022?
CommOCEAN is a major international meeting organized by the EMB (European Marine Board) Communication Panel every two years at a specific venue in a different location. The 2022 event will be the fifth edition of this meeting. CommOcean is aimed at all professionals and experts in ocean-related communication and science outreach.
CommOCEAN 2022 aims to create a strong community of marine science communication professionals from around the world and to inspire inventive and effective communication of marine science within the scientific community, as well as to the general public, governments, and decision-makers. This meeting includes a wide range of leaders in marine science communication, presentations and workshops covering communication techniques and platforms, as well as examples of communication campaigns on marine science research. The event will also feature conferences on ongoing projects in this field.
This meeting has several objectives, as CommOCEAN 2022 is aimed at scientists and experts in scientific communication/mediation on the oceans. The mission of this international meeting is to share and offer skills and inspiration by drawing on a very wide range of expertise. It also offers numerous sessions of interest to a wide audience, some of which will take place in parallel and are designed for participants who wish to either develop new communication skills or increase their level of expertise.
The event in a nutshell
