What is “CommOCEAN” 2022?

CommOCEAN is a major international conference organized every two years by the Communication Panel ofthe European Marine Board(EMB), held at a specific venue in a different location each time. The 2022 event marks the fifth edition of this conference. CommOCEAN is aimed at all professionals and experts in the fields of communication and science outreach related to the oceans.

CommOCEAN 2022 aims to build a strong community of marine science communication professionals from around the world and to inspire creative and effective communication of marine science within the scientific community, as well as to the general public, governments, and decision-makers. This meeting will feature a diverse panel of leaders in marine science communication, presentations and workshops covering communication techniques and platforms, as well as examples of communication campaigns focused on marine science research. The event will also include presentations on ongoing projects in this field.

This conference has several objectives, as CommOCEAN 2022 is aimed at scientists as well as experts in science communication and outreach regarding the oceans. The mission of this international meeting is to share and offer expertise and inspiration by drawing on a wide range of specializations. It also features numerous sessions of interest to a broad audience; some will run concurrently and are designed for participants who wish to either develop new communication skills or enhance their level of expertise.
