The University of Montpellier, partner of the Olympic Torch Relay
In May, the University's daily life was punctuated by the passage of the Olympic flame in Montpellier and Perpignan, where members of our community were able to take part in the relay as torchbearers, as well as in the UM Olympiad, organized by SUAPS on the Faculty of Pharmacy campus.
The Olympic Torch Relay first stopped off at the Stade Philipidès for an afternoon of sporting activities and festivities attended by many of the region's schools. These events included a chance for children to try out handisports under the watchful eye of President Philippe Augé, a great way of raising awareness of the challenges of disability in sport and the prowess of para-athletes.
On May 16, the Olympic flame made its way to Perpignan, accompanied by our torchbearers Amal Qobaa and Paloma Pozzati, for a relay that will leave a lasting impression in their minds.
Last but not least, the University Olympiad, organized by the SUAPS, rounded off a month full of Olympic values, with a whole afternoon of tennis, padel and soccer matches on the campus of the Faculty of Pharmacy, involving numerous teams formed by the UM students in attendance.
