The University of Montpellier is a partner in the Olympic torch relay

In May, life on campus was punctuated by the passage of the Olympic torch through Montpellier and Perpignan, where members of our community had the opportunity to participate in the torch relay as torchbearers, as well as in the UM Olympics, organized by SUAPS, on the Pharmacy School campus.

The Olympic torch relay first stopped at Philipidès Stadium for an afternoon of sports activities and festivities attended by many schools from the region. During these activities, children had the opportunity to try out para-sports under the watchful eye of President Philippe Augé—a wonderful way to raise their awareness of the challenges faced by people with disabilities in sports and the remarkable feats achieved by para-athletes.

On May 16, the Olympic flame arrived in Perpignan, accompanied by our torchbearers Amal Qobaa and Paloma Pozzati, for a relay that will remain a lasting memory for them.

Finally, the University Olympics, organized by SUAPS, brought this month filled with Olympic values to a close with an afternoon of competition featuring numerous teams made up of UM students, who faced off in tennis, padel, and soccer on the Pharmacy School campus.
