[LUM#3] Anatomy Museum: the adventure within

At the heart of Montpellier's prestigious Faculty of Medicine, the Anatomy Conservatory has been an incomparable teaching tool for generations of medical students. Today, it is a privileged witness to the history of anatomy teaching.

A veritable temple to medicine, the Anatomy Museum houses a unique collection nestled in the heart of Montpellier's Faculty of Medicine. Strolling through this majestic gallery, punctuated by immense marble colonnades and overlooked by portraits of famous doctors, is like stepping back in time to explore the history of a discipline taught in Montpellier since the 13th century.

Anatomical preparations, casts in wax, plaster or papier-mâché, surgical instruments - in all, over 13,000 items in two rooms describe the human body and the diseases that affect it.
Listed as historic monuments, these precious exhibits trace the development of medical science and the teaching of anatomy. A visit to meet the first explorers of medicine, the pioneers of the unknown who made this exceptional inner adventure possible.
