Philippe Augé re-elected President of the University of Montpellier
The Board of Directors of the University of Montpellier, now an experimental public establishment*, met on Wednesday December 15, 2021. Philippe Augé, Professor of Public Law, was re-elected President of the University of Montpellier, for a four-year term.

Philippe Augé, the only candidate for the presidency, received 31 votes out of the 36 members of the Board of Directors. Last November, the lists supporting him won 11 of the 14 seats in the teacher-researcher, teacher and researcher colleges.
Philippe Augé, 54, is a professor of public law specializing in tax law and public finance. Elected President of the University of Montpellier in 2015 and re-elected in 2019, he was previously President of the University of Montpellier 1 since 2009.
After spearheading the merger of two universities in 2015 to create the University of Montpellier, he worked to ensure that the University of Montpellier obtained I-SITE accreditation with the "Montpellier Université d'Excellence" project, with 15 partners across the region. Recently, it was awarded the Pôle Universitaire d'Innovation label, and was also a winner of the "ExcellenceS" call for projects under the Programme d'Investissements d'Avenir.
At the same meeting, Bruno Fabre, Professor of Management Sciences, was re-elected Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors (31 votes out of 36), a position he held during the previous two terms since the 2015 merger. The other Vice-Chairmen and Vice-Chairwomen will be elected, on the proposal of the Chairman, during the first half of January 2022.
