Screening and discussion of the film “Des goûts de lutte” by Emmanuelle Reungoat, a professor and researcher at the University of Montpellier

On Saturday, January 25, at 7 p.m. at the La Vista Theater in Montpellier, there will be a screening of the film “Des goûts de lutte,” a 58-minute documentary directed by Emmanuelle Reungoat, a professor and researcher at the University of Montpellier, and Pierre-Olivier Gaumin, a photographer and filmmaker.  The screening will be followed by a discussion and Q&A with the production team and the filmmakers.

A current affairs documentary

The story begins after the struggle. What mark does an extraordinary uprising leave on those who lived through it? By following the intersecting paths of the Yellow Vests over several years following the movement, the film explores how their relationships with the world, politics, violence, otherness, and social boundaries have evolved.”

Moreover, this struggle also carves out deeper paths within us—paths that can be both unsettling and liberating—and that reveal themselves in our relationships with work, family, speech, and ourselves.

In turn, a historian and a sociologist draw parallels between these traces and those of other movements that have shaped history, such as the Paris Commune or the Spanish Indignados. By exploring both personal experiences and collective journeys, the film examines the extent to which social struggles can transform us and serve as a force for emancipation.
