A Look Back at the Montpellier Innovation Booster (BIM): When Science and Creativity Come Together to Drive Innovation

From June 3 to 5, 2025, the Booster Innovation Montpellier (BIM) once again brought together inventive minds, this time at Polytech on the Triolet campus. Organized by the University of Montpellier as part of the University Innovation Hub (PUI), this event allowed five project leaders to test their ideas against the realities of innovation through intensive support combining workshops, coaching, and pitches.

Four projects, four visions of innovation

This edition highlighted four projects with themes as ambitious as they are diverse, led by five participants eager to turn their research into concrete solutions for society. The richness and multidisciplinary nature of the proposals reflect the creative energy driven by BIM: the creation of an innovative and eco-friendly boat, the development of cutting-edge solutions to combat leukemia and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), and the design of an innovative method to facilitate the learning of accounting. Whether through the creation of a business, public-private partnerships, or technology transfer, each project embodies a strong vision of innovation in the service of the common good.

A stepping stone to the future

Over the course of these three days, participants were challenged to structure their innovation process, better identify the challenges involved in commercialization, and convince a panel of experts during the demanding final pitch.

Several projects from this year’s edition were submitted to COM’IN (the Investment and Innovation Committee of the Montpellier University Innovation Hub) to receive enhanced support and funding.

BIM, at the heart of the PUI’s initiatives, continues to play a vital role in fostering innovations from Montpellier’s laboratories. It provides researchers, doctoral candidates, and students with a unique platform to turn their ideas into concrete actions, supported by a strong network of experts and partners.

See you next fall in 2025!

The next BIM will take place in early October 2025. Stay tuned so you don’t miss this upcoming event—and who knows, maybe you’ll even get your own project off the ground!

Applications are being accepted until September 19.
