LGBT+ Phobia Awareness Week at theUM

Diversity takes many forms. It is championed, celebrated, and highlighted. And yet, it is not always easy to grasp. We are all influenced by stereotypes—sometimes unconscious ones—that shape our perception of others and can skew our judgment. To move beyond these stereotypes, we must be willing to shift our perspective.

This year, the week dedicated to combating LGBT+phobia will provide an opportunity to better understand the realities faced by transgender people, to challenge stereotypes, and to reflect on what it takes to achieve true inclusion.

To foster dialogue and reach all audiences, several approaches will be combined, ranging from awareness-raising to culture and practical application.

On the program: workshops to raise awareness about trans identities, led by the OUTrans association, which advocates for the rights of transgender people; the photography exhibition *The Metamorphoses of Proteus*, which takes its title from the Greek mythological sea god who takes the form of whatever he loves. An invitation to explore identity— when it shifts from something fixed to something fluid, mysterious, and embraced.

The film *24 Hours in New York*, a forum theater performance, and self-defense workshops will enrich this diverse program, where certainties are questioned and perceptions evolve.

A week to explore, share, and—perhaps—change your perspective.
