The Montpellier statement: Feed, Care, Protect: Intelligence to accelerate food systems' transformation at local and global levels

On December 19, Nature magazine reported on an event organized last March by the University of Montpellier, CGIAR and the High-Level Panel of Experts on Food Security and Nutrition (HLPE) of the United Nations Committee on World Food Security (CFS), with the support of Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole: "Feed-Care-Protect: intelligence to accelerate food systems transformation at local and global levels". Noting the proliferation of global expert groups in various fields (IPCC for climate, IpBES for biodiversity, HLPE/CSA for food safety, One Health High Level Experts Panel for global health), the event aimed to organize a collaborative workspace enabling them to cross-fertilize their views and perspectives to address the "Feed-Care-Protect" challenges. The Montpellier Declaration, signed by the participants, calls for the definition of a roadmap and milestones for the creation of such a space, and for the strengthening of the science-policy interface at a new event to be held in Montpellier in 2023. An event to which Nature magazine invites you to pay close attention!
