The Montpellier Statement: Feed, Care, Protect: Intelligence to Accelerate the Transformation of Food Systems at the Local and Global Levels

On December 19, *Nature* reported on an event organized last March by the University of Montpellier, CGIAR, and the High-Level Panel of Experts on Food Security and Nutrition (HLPE) of the United Nations Committee on World Food Security (CFS), with support from Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole:“Feed-Care-Protect: intelligence to accelerate food systems transformation at local and global levels.” Noting the proliferation of global expert groups in various fields (IPCC for climate, IPBES for biodiversity, HLPE/CFS for food security, One Health High Level Experts Panel for global health), the event aimed to establish a collaborative workspace enabling them to exchange views and perspectives to address the “Feed-Care-Protect” challenges. The Montpellier Declaration, signed by the participants, thus calls for the definition of a roadmap and milestones for the creation of such a space and, through this, the strengthening of science-policy interfaces at a new event to be held in 2023 in Montpellier. An event to which the journal Nature invites us to pay the utmost attention!
