The Montpellier statement: Feed, Care, Protect: Intelligence to accelerate food systems’ transformation at local and global levels

On December 19, Nature magazine reported on an event organized last March by the University of Montpellier, CGIAR, and the High-Level Panel of Experts on Food Security and Nutrition (HLPE) of the United Nations Committee on World Food Security (CFS), with the support of Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole: "Feed-Care-Protect: intelligence to accelerate food systems transformation at local and global levels." Noting the proliferation of global expert groups in various fields (IPCC for climate, IPBES for biodiversity, HLPE/CFS for food security, One Health High Level Experts Panel for global health), the event aimed to organize a collaborative workspace enabling them to exchange views and perspectives on addressing the challenges of “Feeding, Caring, and Protecting.” The Montpellier Declaration signed by the speakers calls for the definition of a roadmap and milestones for the creation of such a space and, through this, the strengthening of science-policy interfaces at a new event to be held in Montpellier in 2023. Nature magazine invites readers to pay close attention to this event!
