An international prize for students

Identifying the world's brightest students in each discipline: that's the aim of the Undergraduate Awards. UM students can now apply for this prestigious program, to which the University of Montpellier is the first in France to be affiliated.
It's the student equivalent of the Nobel Prize. Visit Undergraduate Awards were born in 2012 under the patronage of the President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins. They are now the world's largest academic awards program. The idea: to support the world's brightest and most innovative students in every discipline. Open to 25 categories in all fields of knowledge, science and technology, law, economics, humanities and social sciences, the prize is awarded to the best projects or research work presented worldwide.

International recognition

Every year in September, the winners in each discipline are invited to Dublin (Ireland) for four days, all expenses paid, to take part in the medal ceremony at a world summit. An event that opens up rich perspectives for the new laureates... and even some doors, explains Evelina Colacino, teacher-researcher in chemistry at the Institut des Biomolécules Max Mousseron.
"Winning the UA means being recognized in your field of research. Each winner is rewarded with the publication of his or her project in an international journal: The Undergraduate Journal". A journal read by researchers in search of doctoral students with promising work, and by companies looking for brains to recruit, or technological innovations to develop. "It has now become a tool for spotting young talent around the world", explains Evelina Colacino.
Evelina is the manager and initiator of the program at the University of Montpellier. For her, participation in the UA World Summit offers many opportunities for the winners: "They will meet eminent personalities, take part in cross-disciplinary workshops to develop their projects in connection with other disciplines... It's an opportunity for them to start building a valuable international network, which they can put to good use throughout their careers".

Current registrations
