A conference organized by the University of Montpellier on the mystery of the disappearance of beaches in the Mediterranean

On Tuesday, December 3, Frédéric Bouchette, beach physicist and professor at Montpellier University and the Geosciences Laboratory, will present the results of his research at a conference on the mysteries of beach disappearance, particularly in the Mediterranean. The conference is part of a series of short lectures organized by OREME (the Montpellier Environmental Research Observatory) at Planet Ocean.

An important local issue

Coastal shifts and variations in sand volumes along coastlines are spectacular but also complex. This conference analyzes how sandy coastlines function and their sensitivity to climate change and human activity. Using examples from the Mediterranean, we will explore the creation, transformation, and disappearance of coastlines, and challenge preconceived notions about erosion and submersion. Dive into the heart of coastal environmental challenges.
