A conference organized by the University of Montpellier on the mystery of the disappearing beaches in the Mediterranean
On Tuesday, December 3, Frédéric Bouchette, a beach physicist and professor at the University of Montpellier and the Geosciences Laboratory, will present the results of his research at a lecture on the mysteries surrounding the disappearance of beaches, particularly in the Mediterranean. The lecture is part of the OREME (Montpellier Environmental Research Observatory) lecture series and will be held at Planet Ocean.
By invitation only
An important local issue
Coastal shifts and fluctuations in sand volumes along coastlines are both dramatic and complex. This lecture examines how sandy coastlines function and their vulnerability to climate change and human activity. Using examples from the Mediterranean, we will explore the formation, transformation, and disappearance of coastlines, and challenge common misconceptions about erosion and flooding. Dive into the heart of coastal environmental challenges
