University of Montpellier: organization of the Observatoire Hommes Milieux (OHM) symposium – Mediterranean coastline
On September 13, 2022, the OHM Littoral Méditerranée symposium on the Gulf of Aigues Mortes will take place throughout the day, starting at 8:30 a.m. This seminar, sponsored by the University of Montpellier and the National Center for Research (CNRS), will take place at the Club House of the Port Camargue Harbor Master's Office, in the presence of Philippe Augé, President of the University of Montpellier, Jacques Mercier, Vice President Research of Montpellier, Patrick Monfort, Director of OHM Littoral Méditerranée, Stéphane Blanc, Director of INEE (Institute of Ecology and Environment) at CNRS, as well as Robert Claustre, Mayor of Le Grau du Roi, Stéphan Rossignol, Mayor of La Grande Motte, and Véronique Négret, Mayor of Villeneuve-lès-Maguelone.
What is the Observatoire Hommes-Milieux (OHM)?
For the past 10 years, the Mediterranean Coastal Observatory (OHM) has been conducting research to identify and determine methods of coastal occupation, development, and management that are compatible with environmental conservation and resource enhancement. This work is being carried out in a context of conflicting uses and global change (anthropization, climate change), making sustainable coastal management developed within the framework of ICZM (Integrated Coastal Zone Management) more essential than ever.
What is the purpose of this symposium?
This symposium will provide an opportunity to present the work carried out by OHM Littoral Méditerranéen in the area stretching from Port Camargue to Palavas-les-Flots to all relevant stakeholders and interested parties, including local elected officials, regional authorities, decentralized government agencies, associations, and others.
These presentations will provide an opportunity for discussion and questions about the work in progress. These debates will be taken into account in the future plans of the OHM Mediterranean Littoral.
