University of Montpellier: organization of the Observatoire Hommes Milieux (OHM) conference - Mediterranean coastline

On September 13, 2022, the OHM Littoral méditerranée will be holding a day-long seminar on the Aigues Mortes Gulf site, starting at 8:30 am. This seminar, supported by the University of Montpellier and the Centre National de la Research Scientifique (CNRS), will take place at the Club House of the Capitainerie de Port Camargue, in the presence of Philippe Augé, President of the University of Montpellier, Jacques Mercier, Vice-President Research University of Montpellier, Patrick Monfort, Director of OHM Littoral méditerranéen, Stéphane Blanc, Director of INEE (Institut Ecologie et Environnement) at CNRS, as well as Robert Claustre, Mayor of Grau du Roi, Stéphan Rossignol, Mayor of La Grande Motte and Véronique Négret, Mayor of Villeneuve-lès-Maguelone.

What is the Observatoire Hommes-Milieux (OHM)?

For the past 10 years, the Observatoire Hommes-Milieux (OHM) Littoral méditerranéen has been carrying out research to identify and determine ways of occupying, developing and managing the coastline that are compatible with environmental conservation and resource development. This work is carried out against a backdrop of conflicting uses and global change (anthropization, climate change), making sustainable coastal management, developed within the framework of ICZM (Integrated Coastal Zone Management), more essential than ever.

What is the aim of this symposium?

This symposium will provide an opportunity to present the work of the OHM Littoral méditerranéen, covering the area from Port Camargue to Palavas les Flots, to all the players and stakeholders concerned: elected representatives from local authorities, local and central government departments, associations...

These presentations will provide an opportunity for discussion and questions on work in progress. These debates will be taken into account in the perspectives to be pursued by OHM Littoral méditerranéen.
