La Parenthèse
Activities and Objectives of the Association

The mission of the association “La ParenThèse,” established under the French Law of 1901, is:
- to combat student dropout rates and isolation during the process of writing scientific papers (master’s theses, doctoral dissertations);
- to help them graduate sooner;
- to enhance their employability, in particular by creating an interdisciplinary social and professional network through the writing activity.
To achieve this, team members organize three types of events that bring together between 10 and 15 student participants (in person) and about 40 students (online).
These events are related to a scientific research process:
- writing events (one-day workshops, writing retreats, and mini-ParenThèses);
- events focused on mutual support and exchange (Plume Doc workshops, Master Classes);
- events designed to help participants unwind (AfterThèse nature retreats).
