Activities and Objectives of the Association Our association, Bête.D.E, aims to bring students together for social gatherings. Since many new students are unfamiliar with the Lozère region, they need a supportive environment to help them integrate into their new school. To achieve this, we aim to offer students a variety of activities, such as cultural outings, sports tournaments, and orientation days or evenings. Furthermore, we strive to provide ongoing support to the students at our institution. Joining or supporting the Student Union means getting involved in campus life and helping to create a friendly and welcoming atmosphere for everyone. Together, let’s make this year a great success, both academically and in terms of student life!

Voix pl’UM

Do you love to sing? Do you enjoy spending time with friends? Then join Voix pl’UM! Voix pl’UM is a student organization at the University of Montpellier founded in 2025. The goal of the Voix pl’UM association is to promote choral singing within the university community. To offer something different from existing choirs, we’ve chosen to perform a pop-rock repertoire with original arrangements by our choir director, Samuel Zaroukian. The choir is open to students as well as UM staff and residents. There are three sections: men, altos, and sopranos, so there’s a place for everyone. Most of the songs are familiar to everyone and span the period from the 1960s to the present day (for example, Norah Jones, Depeche Mode, Niagara, Philippe Katerine, Les Nuls, Serge Gainsbourg, Camelia Jordana, and Pharrell Williams). We will perform at concerts at the end of the year (at UM and/or at festivals, in the city and/or in the region). When? Rehearsals take place on Tuesdays at noon from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM starting September 23, 2025. Where? At the University of Montpellier, Triolet campus (Place Eugène Bataillon), Building 2 in the physics lab rooms

The University of Montpellier is, above all, a place where every student should feel safe, free to be themselves, and free to express themselves. However, certain rules and standards of conduct must be observed to maintain a peaceful environment. Committed to combating all forms of violence, discrimination, and harassment, UM encourages student organizations while emphasizing the importance of responsibility, respect, and tolerance. To reinforce the rules of good conduct and ensure responsible socializing, the university provides several resources for the student community and student organizations. Various prevention initiatives are carried out within the university, aimed at students and club members, such as training sessions on gender-based and sexual violence and discrimination. Association of Friends of Scientific and Technical Collections
Content type: Page
Why did the need for such an association arise? Because these collections are vast and diverse, and the need to preserve and promote them has not always been a priority for the University or research institutions. Institutional recognition of these collections is relatively recent, and a formal collections department (now SPH) was not established (at the then-UM2) until 2004, and even then with limited staff resources. Staff members who were aware of the issue then came together to form the association. The question of their status (prior to the association’s creation) had been raised on several occasions with the legal departments of the Ministry of Higher Education and Research, which did not want to hear about “volunteers” within an institutional framework; the association was therefore established in September 2004. In what capacity do the members of the Association participate? As experts: Their expertise (thatProfessors, researchers, advanced students, doctoral candidates, practitioners, and technical staff who have had, or have some connection to, these collections, as well as knowledgeable enthusiasts) can be utilized at various levels: at the level of the objects themselves, their conservation, and their promotion for and through research (making them available to researchers or participating in research projects, scientific publications, etc.), as well as their promotion through the selection and presentation of objects to contribute to the dissemination of scientific culture (exhibitions, science workshops, conferences, etc.). The AACST is a partner and is not subordinate to any University department: Its scope of activity was clearly defined at its inception, both by its founders and by the University (with the approval of the overseeing ministry) and its Collections Department at the time. However, of course, any work on the University’s collections (and by delegation, under the responsibility of the Historical Heritage Department or a research laboratory) can only be carried out with the approval of the SPH or the research laboratory.
