Open to the world, the University of Montpellier contributes to the structuring of the European higher education area, and strengthens its international positioning and attractiveness, in close collaboration with its partners in the I-SITE Program of Excellence, through programs adapted to the major scientific challenges it faces.

Regional, national and international schemes

Chairs under the I-SITE excellence program, ATIP-AVENIR, MOPGA, UNESCO... These are just some of the schemes set up with the support of the I-SITE excellence program, to attract top-level scientists and facilitate the integration of high-potential young researchers into our research structures. Some of these programs are supported by the Occitanie Region and/or the French government.

Montpellier Advanced Knowledge Institute on Transitions (MAK'IT)

The Montpellier Advanced Knowledge Institute on Transitions(MAK'IT) is the Institut d'Etudes Avancées (IEA) of the University of Montpellier and its I-SITE partners. Drawing on innovative inter- and trans-disciplinary approaches, hosting world-renowned foreign researchers and organizing events of international scope in Montpellier, it aims to stimulate the contribution of scientific communities to accelerating the transitions needed to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in the fields of agriculture and food, the environment and health.

Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES)

The University of Montpellier has been chosen to host the technical support unit of the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES). This choice places Montpellier at the heart of global biodiversity issues. The assessment aims to identify and understand the factors in human society, at both individual and collective levels and from local to global scales, that can be mobilized to bring about transformative change to ensure the conservation, restoration and sustainable use of biodiversity, taking into account social and economic factors in the context of the Sustainable Development Goals.

A university awarded the "HR Excellence in Research" label

Since March 2015, when it became the 1st French university to receive the "Human Resources Excellence in Research" (HRS4R) label from the European Commission, the University of Montpellier has been deploying ahuman resources strategy for research that reflects its commitment to evolving its practices and moving closer to European recommendations to better support researchers in their careers, promote their working conditions and mobility in the European area while strengthening the University's attractiveness on a European scale.

Oriol Amat: Good accounts make good ethics

Oriol Amat is Professor of Economics at Barcelona's Pompeu Fabra University, of which he was also Rector. He is considered an expert in financial accounting, management control and corporate fraud. On September 20, the University of Montpellier had the pleasure of awarding him an honorary doctorate.
