An international experience in an exceptional setting.
Located between the sea and the mountains, Montpellier is a renowned, dynamic and cosmopolitan student city. Every year, the University welcomes more than 10,000 international students from over 150 countries.
Programs developed with laboratories for greater synergy between training and research.
Students benefit from an excellent scientific environment, with the opportunity to join research teams, undertake laboratory internships, or participate in international projects.
Among these courses of excellence, the IDIL (Interdisciplinary In-Lab) graduate program embodies the University of Montpellier's commitment to offer innovative training with a direct link to research. Opened in 2022, IDIL currently brings together 13 Masters courses 100% taught-in-English in a wide range of disciplines, from bio-health to political science, chemistry, agronomy, electronics, water and earth sciences, engineering, management and microbiology. Each pathway has a strong international dimension, with over 40% of students on the program being international.
With links to France's leading research organizations(CNRS, INRAE, INSERM, CIRAD, IRD, INRIA, IFREMER), the IDIL model is a genuine gateway to research, distinguished by early and progressive immersion: two 6-month laboratory internships are planned during the curriculum, as well as personalized support from a research mentor from the start of the Master's program. Students are encouraged to open up to interdisciplinarity through the discovery of other disciplines and multidisciplinary projects, enabling them to build a personalized curriculum in line with their career plans.
In link with it's graduate structure, each year the IDIL program also funds mirror doctoral projects, combining two complementary theses in different disciplines. This scheme encourages the emergence of innovative, interdisciplinary scientific projects, and illustrates the University of Montpellier's strong commitment to multidisciplinary, collaborative research.
