From November 12, 2018 to November 17, 2018For the first time in Montpellier, a science film festival will offer schoolchildren and the general public a unique opportunity to watch films and engage in discussions with scientists on social and research topics such as mosquitoes, the origins of AIDS, the world of atoms, and plastic pollution in the oceans.

November 12 and 13 are dedicated to screenings for schoolchildren. On November 16 and 17, four films will be presented to the general public by researchers. A discussion between the audience and researchers is planned after each screening in a friendly atmosphere.

This festival is part of the rich and diverse local research scene, reflecting the 6,000 researchers in Montpellier's scientific community, with a significant concentration in the fields of agriculture, the environment, and health. Each of them works closely within the Montpellier University of Excellence (MUSE) consortium, which brings together research in the region to address three major societal challenges: Feeding – Protecting – Caring.

All of the films shown were recently produced or co-produced by the CNRS and IRD, based in Montpellier and the surrounding area.
