From November 12, 2018 at November 17, 2018For the first time in Montpellier, a science film festival will offer schoolchildren and the general public a unique opportunity to watch screenings and engage in discussions with scientists on social and research topics, such as mosquitoes, the origins of AIDS, the world of atoms, and plastic pollution in the oceans.
November 12 and 13 are set aside for screenings for school groups. On November 16 and 17, researchers will present four films to the general public. A discussion between the audience and the researchers is planned after each screening in a relaxed atmosphere.
This festival is part of a vibrant and diverse local research landscape, reflecting the 6,000 researchers in Montpellier’s scientific community, with a significant concentration in the fields of agriculture, the environment, and health. Each of them works closely together within the Montpellier University of Excellence (MUSE) consortium, which brings together research across the region to address three major societal challenges: Feeding – Protecting – Caring.
All of the films shown were recently produced or co-produced by the CNRS and the IRD, which are based in Montpellier and the surrounding area.
