1st Science and Society Conference at the Maison des Sciences de l’Homme Sud

July 3–5, 2017, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Paul Valéry University of Montpellier 3 – Saint-Charles Campus

A national event held in the Occitanie region, the First Science-Society Conference aims to strengthen cooperation between research stakeholders and civil society and to foster greater recognition of their interactions.
This conference is free and open to everyone :  researchers, field workers, nonprofit organizations, businesses, elected officials, students, teachers, engineers, local government technicians, citizens…
Registration is required… but free ! Registration will take place on-site at the reception desk starting at 9 a.m. on July 3.

Several objectives:

• increase the visibility of stakeholders and initiatives at the science-society interface;
• develop communities of practice among practitioners and researchers;
• promote equitable partnerships among these stakeholders;
• strengthen recognition and support from institutions and public policies.

On the agenda:

About fifty workshops, activities, roundtable discussions, forum theater sessions… organized in an open, collaborative, and participatory manner, centered on five themes:

• build spaces for science-society collaboration;
• strengthen research capabilities throughout society;
• to make knowledge a common good;
• rethinking progress;
• explore and develop new ideas.

The conference also features a unique forum space, open to the general public, where—through a fun and welcoming format—participants will have the opportunity to see, learn about, and experience various science-society initiatives and programs that bring together researchers and citizens!
