The primary goal of the “Future of Water – 2016” conference is to help build a network of young professionals in the water sector, regardless of their roles or the contexts in which they work. It also aims to foster connections with the business community through interactions with the HydroGaïa trade show.
A scientific conference co-organized by the Montpellier Institute for Water and the Environment (IM2E), the International Association of Hydrogeologists (IAH), the International Association of Hydrological Sciences (IAHS), the French Water Association, the French Association for Water, Irrigation, and Drainage (AFEID), the Scientific and Technical Committee for Agricultural Water (COSTEA), the Water Cluster, and Swelia.

On the agenda:

  • a “Doctoral Seminar on Irrigation” day;
  • a presentation on a research-industry collaboration: MATRICS, innovative tools for information sharing in water management;
  • a lecture: “Irrigation and Groundwater: Is Sustainable Groundwater Management Possible?”, Mr. Hichem Tachrift, Director of the Roussillon Groundwater Authority;
  • presentations on various fields of expertise given by Lila Collet, a postdoctoral researcher in the United Kingdom; Marine Grémont, a water economist at BRGM; and Nicolas Rampnoux, Head of Development at Veolia;
  • the presentation of a selection of projects nominated for the HydroJeune Award.
