What is 3D bioprinting used for?
The seminar "What is 3D bioprinting used for?" organized by the UAR PAC Chimie Balard of the Chemistry Research Cluster aims to introduce you to 3D bioprinting for regenerative medicine and to present the Tissue Engineering platform of the CARTIGEN research platform at Montpellier University Hospital.

This technique forms the basis of the tissue engineering platform, dedicated to biofabrication and the characterization of constructs, in order to advance research in regenerative medicine. The platform uses various approaches, including 3D extrusion printing or micro-printing, as well as various characterization techniques (structural, biological, etc.). A few examples will be presented, taken from research projects carried out on the platform.
Speaker
Christopher LEON-VALDIVIESO (Research Engineer)
Christopher LEON-VALDIVIESO has been a research engineer at CARTIGEN (Montpellier University Hospital) since 2023. He is head of the Tissue Engineering (TE) unit and supports research projects in tissue engineering and biofabrication by:
- identifying the most suitable biofabrication technologies;
- developing printing or bioprinting processes;
- assisting in the selection or preparation of (bio) inks;
- contributing to the analysis of printed constructions.
For the launch of this first seminar of 2026, we are offering a short and user-friendly format.
Possibility of credit validation for doctoral students.
