Even though we have never been so well informed, society is paradoxically facing a massive phenomenon of misinformation. Faced with this overabundance of information, which is sometimes inaccurate, critical thinking is a major challenge.
Our society faces challenges in public health, sustainable development, and mass information. In order to make informed choices in these and other areas, it is necessary to be able to distinguish between knowledge and opinion, but also to differentiate between information that deserves our trust and information that does not offer sufficient guarantees of reliability.

Developing critical thinking skills allows us to move beyond stereotypes, prejudices, preconceived ideas, and intuitive assumptions, thereby preventing the mere expression of an opinion from taking the place of judgment.

To discuss this topic of science and society, two multidisciplinary experts will answer questions from the audience live:

  • Gabriela Litre, PhD in Geography and Sustainable Development, Associate Researcher on Global Environmental Change and Public Policy at the University of Brasilia, Visiting Scientist at MUSE (Montpellier University of Excellence).
  • Agnès Perrin-Doucey, Director of the Faculty of Education (University of Montpellier), Senior Lecturer in French Language and Literature.
