Conference on Disability, Physical Education, and Inclusion, Prof. Martin Giese.

Martin Giese is a professor at Heidelberg University of Education, and his research focuses on, among other things, physical education and sports pedagogy, inclusive education, and adapted physical activity.

Organized by the University of Montpellier, the UFR STAPS, and the SantesiH laboratory.

This conference will aim to present, based on the experiences of students with visual impairments, the obstacles to inclusive physical education and sports and the structural challenges associated with them.

The presentation will be in English with French translation. Admission is free and open to the public.


Mapping the grammar of exclusion in the context of inclusion and PE.

International research shows that students with disabilities face multiple barriers in inclusive physical education. From the subjective perspective of these students, inclusive experiences are often not accessible to them. Using the example of physical education with blind students, the lecture shows which barriers are named in detail and which structural challenges are associated with inclusive physical education and why.
