Climate Libé Tour

The 8th and final leg of the "Climat Libé Tour 2024" passes through Montpellier on December 13 and 14 and will be dedicated to energies. Meetings, debates and master classes will punctuate these two days, which will take place at Montpellier's City Hall on December 13, and at the University of Montpellier's Faculty of Economics on December 14. This event is open to students of the University of Montpellier.

December 13, 2024, Montpellier City Hall

  • 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.: The " Generation Transition Parliament " with Oxfam. 
  • 2:30 pm to 3 pm: Inauguration with Lauren Provost, Deputy Editorial Director of Libération, and Michaël Delafosse, Mayor of Montpellier and President of the Metropole.
  • 3pm to 4pm: Masterclass with Pierre Leflaive, Head of Transport at the Climate Action Network, on the theme: "How to get out of the car trap".
  • 4 to 5 p.m.: Debate with Paloma Moritz, head of the ecology department at Blast media, and Asma Mhalla, political scientist and author of Technopolitique: comment la technologie fait de nous des soldats, on the theme "No democracies without fossil fuels, really?"
  • 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm: Debate with Cécile Duflot, former Minister of Housing and Executive Director of Oxfam France, Anthony Cellier, member of the French Energy Regulatory Commission (in video), Clément Gaillard, urban planner specializing in climate design, and Stéphanie Goujon, Director of the Mutualist Footprint at Groupe VYV on the theme "Energy insecurity, how can we fight? ".

December 14, 2024, Faculty of Economics, University of Montpellier, Richter Campus

After the opening of the day in the Jean-Baptiste Say amphitheatre at 11am by Lauren Provost, deputy editorial director of Libération , and Frédérique Carcaillet, vice-president for environmental issues at the University of Montpellier, the program for Saturday 14th is as follows:

  • 11.15am to 12pm: Masterclass with Etienne Klein, physicist and Doctor of Philosophy of Science, on "What is energy called?
  • 2pm to 3pm: Debate on the theme: "Nuclear or renewable, should we choose?" with Frédérik Jobert, Deputy Secretary General for Ecological Planning, Nicolas Nace, Greenpeace Energy Transition Campaigner and Jean-Christophe Kerdelhué, President and Founder of NW, France's leading electricity storage company.
  • 3pm to 4pm: Masterclass with Pierre Charbonnier, philosopher and author, on "Towards the ecology of war?
  • 4 to 5 p.m.: Meeting moderated by Nicolas Celnik, journalist at Libération, on the question "Can we really reconcile energy transition and biodiversity?
  • 5pm to 6pm: Interview with Jean Massiet, founder of the political talk show Backseat , on the theme of "Youth and climate" .

The Montpellier leg of the Climat Libé Tour 2024 will conclude at Halle Tropisme with a concert by Lord Esperanza and a performance by the Maraboutage collective.
