Summary

Montpellier has always played an important role in the history of science. This is thanks to its university, one of the oldest in Europe (1289), its diverse and prestigious schools, its laboratories and research centers, and the long-recognized quality of its constantly renewed teams of professors, researchers, and engineers.
Initially driven by its medical school, the city's scientific influence has been enriched over the centuries by all disciplines. Botany, agronomy, chemistry, pharmacology, physics, civil engineering, hydraulics, biology, electronics, mathematics...  The list is long of the fields and major historical figures from Montpellier who have contributed to the development of science and technology. This rich history deserves to be better known and promoted.
Encouraged by this prestigious past, the present and future of science in Montpellier continue to strive for excellence.
