Abstract
Montpellier has always played a significant role in the history of science. This is due to its university, one of the oldest in Europe (founded in 1289), its diverse and prestigious schools, its laboratories and research centers, and, consequently, the long-recognized quality of its ever-evolving teams of professors, researchers, and engineers.
Initially driven by its medical school, the city’s scientific influence has expanded over the centuries to encompass all disciplines. Botany, agronomy, chemistry, pharmacology, physics, civil engineering, hydraulics, biology, electronics, mathematics… the list is long of fields and great historical figures from Montpellier who have contributed to the development of science and technology. This rich history deserves to be better known and highlighted.
Encouraged by this prestigious past, the present and future of science in Montpellier continue to strive for excellence.
