Conference: “Acoustics and Ultrasound: Applications to Humans and Their Environment” Thursdays at UM
This event has passed!
Thursday, May 24, 2018, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Institute of Botany, Charles Flahault Amphitheater – University of Montpellier
Conference hosted by Thomas Delaunay, Gilles Despaux, and Emmanuel Le Clezio, researchers at the laboratory ofElectronics and Systems (IES) – M2A Team (Materials, Microsensors, and Acoustics) – University of Montpellier-CNRS.
Since Pythagoras, scientists have enjoyed, sometimes very seriously, trying to understand the music of sound waves. The applications of their work now resonate in many different fields: music, architecture, industry, and medicine.
The Institute of Electronics and Systems (IES), through its M2A (Materials, Micro-Sensors, and Acoustics) team, specializes in characterizing industrial and biological materials using acoustic methods. Its members are also heavily involved in training programs at the University of Montpellier, including the professional bachelor's degree in Acoustics and Sound Environment and various master's degrees.
Using musical and natural analogies, they will explain the basic principles of acoustics and present findings and images from international research projects. Through acoustic games, they invite us to immerse ourselves in space and sound imagery, revealing the links between science and aesthetics.
UM Thursdays: a unique series of lectures
The University of Montpellier, with its eight faculties, two schools, and six institutes, boasts a wealth of teachers andProfessors a wide variety of fields of study. It wanted to showcase them and make them accessible to as many people as possible by offering a unique series of lectures, with one event per month from October 2017 to May 2018.
