Is upward mobility and success really a matter of merit? Is the American dream of the person who builds himself up from nothing, and by the sweat of his brow becomes one of the world's greats, just a myth? Does a meritocratic school system give equal opportunities to everyone? Is this system compatible with the democratic ideal upheld in our society? The ideology of merit-based grading conveys a lot of preconceived ideas in our society.

Lola Guillot, a doctoral student in political science at AgroParisTech, will share her vision of meritocracy through an original gesticulated conference.
