COP25, held in December 2019, confirmed the decline in climate ambition. Despite two weeks of negotiations, countries failed to agree on raising their ambitions ahead of COP26 or on establishing rules for the carbon market. However, the effects of climate change—particularly the increase in extreme weather events—are very real and will intensify if nothing is done, according to the latest report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).

Jean-Marc Jancovici, an engineer from École Polytechnique, a world-renowned figure in the field of energy transition, one of the founding fathers of carbon footprinting, and founding president of The Shift Project, a figure appointed by the French government to serve on the High Council for Climate Action (HCAC), will present the concept of carbon constraints, its implications in today’s world, and the possible solutions available to us for addressing current and future societal and environmental challenges.

The lecture will be delivered in person by Mr. Jancovici in the Peytavin Auditorium (for the first registrants, subject to availability) and broadcast live in rooms SC001 and SC002 (for the remaining audience).

Due to limited capacity and for safety reasons, please bring your digital or paper registration ticket.
