Conference on “Nutrition in Extreme Environments”

This year, students in the first year of the Master’s program in Nutrition and Food Science are in charge of organizing the traditional conference, which will focus on nutrition in extreme environments and take place on November 30 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The goal of this project is to answer the following question:“How can we ensure food security under extreme conditions and climates?”

Nutrition is one of the cornerstones of our health and well-being, especially when it comes to pushing our limits. That is why we will first introduce the concept of “extreme environments” before exploring several subtopics: high-risk areas (war zones, polluted areas, or areas following a natural disaster); the impact of these extreme environments on health (psychological and physiological aspects) and physical performance; and the main techniques for food preparation and storage.

The speakers will share their experiences and insights on the various topics covered.
