Water in Montpellier?

In a context deeply marked by the consequences of climate change, the issue of water, its resources, and its uses requires significant awareness and a variety of analytical perspectives in order to guide the necessary actions.
Aimed at the general public and free to attend, the symposium "Water in Montpellier?" is part of this initiative. It is organized by the Montpellier Academy of Sciences and Letters in partnership with Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole, the UNESCO International Center ICIREWARD, and the University of Montpellier.
It also receives financial support from the Aqua-Valley Competitiveness Cluster and Montpellier City Hall.

Its objectives
- highlight the problems and challenges facing the city of Montpellier and its metropolitan area in terms of climate change and population growth;
- highlight the globally recognized excellence of Montpellier's research and promote local scientific and technological knowledge in the field of water;
- focus attention on the specific climatic, geological, and hydrographic characteristics of our territory;
- compare the results of research, related industrial developments, and their implementation in the field with local stakeholders;
- Hold roundtable discussions on local water issues and their consequences with local stakeholders, elected officials, scientists, technical experts, and representatives of associations.
