Water in Montpellier?

  • Category: Symposium
  • Dates : November 9-10, 2023
  • Timetable: From 9 a.m.
  • Venue: Salle Rabelais, Montpellier

In a context profoundly marked by the consequences of climate change, the issue of water, its resources and its uses requires a consistent awareness and a cross-section of analysis to preside over essential actions.

The "De l'eau à Montpellier?" symposium, aimed at the general public and free of charge, is part of this approach. It is organized by the Académie des Sciences et Lettres de Montpellier in partnership with Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole, the UNESCO ICIREWARD International Centre and the University of Montpellier.

It also benefits from financial support from the Aqua-Valley competitiveness cluster and the Montpellier town council.

Its objectives

  • highlight the problems and challenges facing the city of Montpellier and its metropolitan area as a result of climate change and population growth;
  • highlight the world-renowned excellence of Montpellier's research and promote local scientific and technological expertise in the water sector;
  • focus on the specific climatic, geological and hydrographic features of our territory;
  • compare the results of research, industrial developments and their implementation in the field with local players;
  • round-table discussions on local water issues and their consequences with local players, including elected representatives, scientists, technicians and associations.
