Blood donation
Would you like to do something for the community? Come and give blood at the University, RICHTER campus.
Donating blood means contributing to the healthcare system and helping many patients every year. This can be in cases of cancer, blood disease, severe bleeding during surgery or childbirth.
But donating blood is also a very convivial moment, because we're all in the same frame of mind: united, bound by this desire to help others, to take action, to contribute to something important.
Together, we have the power to act, so come one, come all.
Before you donate :
- feeling healthy ;
- be between 18 and 70 years of age;
- weigh at least 50 kg;
- have photo identification ;
- not to have had a blood transfusion;
- and on the spot, be found fit during the pre-donation interview.
Before going to the hospital, remember to take the online test on the EFS website to find out if there are any contraindications.
From your arrival to your departure, allow between 45 min and 1 hour (donating itself lasts only 10 minutes on average). It's best to eat beforehand and stay well hydrated throughout the donation.
In the following cases, donations must be deferred by :
- 24 hours after caries treatment or scaling;
- 7 days after antibiotic treatment;
- 14 days after an infectious episode;
- 4 months after endoscopy, piercing or tattooing;
- 4 months after a trip to a country where malaria is rife.
To promote proximity, EFS has created a Facebook group dedicated to donors in Montpellier and the Hérault: Don de sang Montpellier, Béziers & co | Facebook
