The Atger Museum in Montpellier houses an exceptional collection of drawings and prints from the French, Italian, and Northern European schools of the 16th, 17th, and 18th centuries, painstakingly assembled by the discerning art collector Xavier Atger, who donated it to the Faculty of Medicine in the early 19th century. Through classical nude drawings and academic studies, the theme of the human body runs throughout the Atger collection and is perfectly suited to a venue dedicated to medicine and anatomy.
N°5 Galerie and Le Lieu Multiple Montpellier have invited 10 contemporary artists to participate in this exhibition-tour, aiming to combine the discovery or rediscovery of this exceptional heritage with the resonance of today’s visual art on the theme of anatomy.
