This series of photographs seeks to question domestic violence and our response to it, through its most extreme expression: conjugal homicide.
By focusing on everyday objects that have been transformed into murder weapons, Camille Gharbi invites us to take a step back from acts whose recurrence seems to reveal: " a profound societal malaise whose full extent is long overdue ".
His intention is as follows: " [...] to speak about this subject, so terrible yet so common, I decided to concentrate my photographic work on those everyday objects that are transformed into weapons of crime. These familiar artifacts, most of them from my own home and photographed against a sober light-blue background, don't immediately convey the violence of the events to which they refer. This distancing requires time for reflection. The murders of women by their spouses, ex-spouses or lovers are not simply isolated cases affecting a certain category of the population".
