As climate challenges force us to rethink how we get around, investing in new road infrastructure seems like a thing of the past.
The Montpellier West Bypass project illustrates this dilemma: meeting immediate needs while increasing our dependence on cars, or fully committing to a sustainable transition. Should we still be building roads in 2025?

    Associate Professor, former Dean of the Faculty of Economics, and professor of economics at the University of Montpellier. Specialist in transportation and energy economics.
  • Mathias Reymond – Associate Professor
    Associate Professor of Economics at the University of Montpellier and co-director of Acrimed. Specialist in the economics of transportation and media.
  • Céline Scornavacca – Representative of the Autrecom collective
    Member of the Autrecom citizens’ collective and Vélocité Montpellier. Research Director at the CNRS.
  • Hugo Arnichand – Member of the Shifters
    Co-representative of the Shifters Languedoc-Roussillon. General engineer specializing in energy and the environment.
