  • Category: Conference-debate
  • Dates: March 30, 2023
  • Schedule: From 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m.
  • Location: Via video conference

Conference hosted by Agnès Fichard-Carroll, Vice President of Education and University Life and Gender Equality Officer.

Speakers:

  • Karen Messing, Professor Emeritus in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Quebec in Montreal, internationally recognized for her expertise on the issue of women's bodies in the workplace.
  • Beatrice Barthe, Associate Professor in Ergonomics and President of the French Language Ergonomics Society.
  • Florence Chappert, Project Manager for Gender, Equality, Health, and Working Conditions at the National Agency for the Improvement of Working Conditions.

In the labor market, women are still too often considered the "second sex": their bodies, their tasks, and their social roles are often relegated to the background. Inappropriate tools, gendered work, the differentiated impact of work according to gender, persistent inequalities, and taboos: what can we do to improve women's working conditions? How can we reconcile the fight for equality with the protection of women's health?

Based on excerpts from Karen Messing's book, three specialists recognized nationally and internationally for their expertise will answer all our questions and show us that the issue of women's bodies at work is central to the theme of gender equality.

Open to the general public. Registration required.
