A documentary on feminism that gives men a voice.
In Montpellier (Maison des étudiants Richter) and Carcassonne (Faculté d'Éducation).

By Laurent Metterie, author, director and producer, and Camille Froidevaux-Metterie, author, teacher-researcher and professor of political science.

Opening of the event by Philippe Augé, President of the University of Montpellier. In the presence of director Laurent Metterie.

What has feminism done to men (or not...)? This is the question posed by the documentary Les Mâles du siècle. Some thirty men of all ages and from all walks of life talk to the camera about their perceptions of women's place in society. Aged from 17 to 95, they range from those who were 20 in the 70s, marked by the conquest of contraceptive rights, to those who are 20 today, in the post #MeToo era. Reproduction, work, family, violence, gender, sexuality... the film traces the influence of the different waves of feminism on men. It holds up a mirror to those who wish to question masculinities, its diversity, its taboos and its own injunctions.

At the end of the screening, viewers will be able to ask the director questions and discuss the issues raised in the documentary.

A moment of conviviality will bring the evening to a close.
