to highlight young regional researchers
.

My Thesis in 180 Seconds is an international science communication competition open to French-speaking doctoral students from around the world. Summarizing your research topic in three minutes, while making it exciting and understandable to everyone: this is the challenge that the international " MT180s" competition sets for doctoral students who take part in this adventure.

Each doctoral student must give a clear, concise, and convincing presentation of their research project in three minutes flat. Twenty doctoral students from universities and institutions in the Occitanie-Est region will take part in the regional final of this competition, which will be held on Monday, March 11, 2024, in the Mousseron amphitheater of the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Chimie de Montpellier (ENSCM).

This year, the Occitanie-Est regional final of "My Thesis in 180 Seconds" generated real excitement, with all seats reserved. To ensure access to an ever-wider audience, the event will be broadcast live on the Campus Mag Occitanie YouTube channel.

At the end of this regional final, the two doctoral students who are chosen will represent the academic zone at the national level in Paris (in the semi-finals) and will attempt to qualify for the national final, and even the international final if they manage to stay in the competition.

The mission of "My Thesis in 180 Seconds" is to showcase the dynamism of research in the French-speaking world through its young researchers by revealing their ability to popularize their research work, raising awareness of the importance of science-society dialogue, and promoting career advancement. It is also an opportunity to raise awareness of the doctorate, a degree that remains little known to the general public.

The final of the "Occitanie-Est" regional competition of "My Thesis in 180 Seconds," coordinated by the Languedoc-Roussillon Doctoral College, the Doctoral College of the University of Montpellier, and the regional delegation of the CNRS alongside their partners (the Occitanie Region, the Nîmes Metropolis, Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole) is part of the international competition organized by France Universités and the CNRS.
