Gisèle Halimi, a fierce advocate of freedom
This event has already taken place!
Narrative theater, directed by Léna Paugam, running time: 1 hour and 15 minutes.
The event will begin at 7:15 p.m. with a presentation about the theater and the play.
The performance will start at 8:00 p.m. and will be followed by a post-show discussion.

Gisèle Halimi’s struggles began early: at just fifteen, she resolutely refused the arranged marriage her parents were forcing upon her. Her strength of character in that patriarchal Jewish Tunisia would enable her to weather other storms. As a lawyer, in the midst of the Algerian War, she denounced the torture carried out by the French army. As an activist, she signed the manifesto of the 343 women who made their abortions public. Here, reality needs no help from fiction: there are few destinies like this one. A performance that is also—perhaps first and foremost—a tribute.
As part of the Culturesponsable program, and in partnership with the public relations department of the Domaine d’O.
Open only to UM students and staff.
Limited seating: registration required
