To launch the 2025 edition of the Bar des Sciences, take part in the evening event: "Wasps, bugs, midges: is insect decline really so serious?".

This monthly event, organized by the Science and Society department of the University of Montpellier, provides a forum for dialogue between scientists and the general public on major issues. For this first evening, come and discuss with experts to understand the causes and impacts of insect decline on our environment.

Julien Haran, taxonomist entomologist at CIRAD Montpellier for 10 years, specializes in the study of weevils, a group of phytophagous beetles, to better understand their role in tropical agrosystems.

Antoine Fraimout, an evolutionary geneticist at the CBGP in Montpellier, studies the rapid adaptation
of invasive species to environmental change, specializing in
ecology and population genetics.

Ennaloël Mateo-espada, an entomologist researcher at OPIE, uses her passion and knowledge of insects and macro photography to popularize entomology for the general public, notably through podcasts, articles and conferences.

The Bar des sciences has become one of Montpellier's flagship events for scientific culture, offering once a month, from January to June, a participatory citizen debate on all aspects of science. Throughout the season, scientists are invited to engage in a dialogue in which their knowledge and practices are shared and discussed.
