May 25 at 8:00 p.m. – Montpellier City Hall, Salle des Rencontres. A documentary directed by five students from the Department of Political Science will be screened at Montpellier City Hall.

As part of their Personal Professional Project (PPP), five third-year political science undergraduates chose to produce a 52-minute documentary on the issues surrounding the future soccer stadium. They interviewed the key players and observers involved in the project—the mayor of Montpellier, MHSC officials, local sports journalists, and others—as well as residents of the Paillade neighborhood who are concerned about the stadium’s demolition.

Through this documentary, the full complexity and depth of the relationship between the people of Montpellier and the city’s historic soccer stadium comes to light—whether that relationship is framed in terms of urban policy, the economics of sports, or the affection for a place that defines a neighborhood’s identity and fosters pride in living there. The project has generated keen interest and enthusiasm among stakeholders—so much so that the Mayor of Montpellier has invited the students to hold a preview screening of their documentary at City Hall this Friday, May 25, in the meeting room at 8 p.m.
