The experience of a transdisciplinary working group in Brazil

Interactions between scientific knowledge and policy-making in the field of health and the environment.

Opening session of the ongoing seminar organized by the Science-Society Interface Research Group at the ExposUM Institute.

With Jean-Paul Metzger, visiting researcher at MAKIT

How can we develop comprehensive mitigation strategies for health and environmental issues that are tailored to the local context? How can we strengthen cross-disciplinary collaboration between academia and the political sphere?

Jean Paul Metzger, an ecologist at the University of São Paulo and a visiting researcher at Mak’It, will discuss his work and the BiotaSynthesis project, which brings together both the academic community and government officials to address health and environmental issues. He will highlight the importance of integrative approaches to health and the environment in fostering dialogue between science and policy, particularly regarding public health prevention policies.
He will also discuss the role of the environment in this project—an aspect often underestimated in One Health approaches—and its impact on public policy.

Event organized as part of the ExposUM Institute with support from Mak’IT, University of Montpellier.

Admission is free, but registration is required due to anti-terrorism security measures.
