As part of the "Rendez-vous de l'Eco" series, the Faculty of Economics at the University of Montpellier I-site MUSE, in partnership with Midi Libre, is organizing a debate on 5G on December 15, 2020 from 6pm to 8pm.

As 5G arrives in France, there are still many questions in the public debate. More waves and a migration to high frequencies are rekindling concerns about the health consequences of 5G.

More recent is the question of the advisability of embarking on 5G at a time when we are discovering the share taken by digital technology in energy consumption.

Finally, many questions are being asked about the added value of this new generation of cell phones: in what way does 5G represent progress compared with 4G, which still has difficulty covering the territory? Will it duplicate fiber optics? Are France and Europe really lagging behind the rollouts seen in the USA and Asia?

Round table discussion moderated by Olivier Biscaye, Editorial Director of Midi Libre.
