Around the corner of a grove, at the corner of a building, on the wall of an amphitheater, the 1% artistic program is hidden everywhere.

The 1% for art?

These works of art, often misunderstood, mistreated, or lost, were nevertheless designed to introduce contemporary art to the general public. It is thanks to André Malraux, who decided in 1951 to set up this unique system—which allows 1% of the budget for any construction, renovation, or restoration project to be allocated to artistic creation—that the campus has been adorned with numerous works of art since its creation.

To mark the 1% Art Program Days and the restructuring of the Triolet campus, the Historical Heritage Department invites you to take part in a tour worthy of a detective investigation to uncover the hidden treasures of the University of Montpellier and gain a better understanding of how perceptions of this ever-changing heritage have evolved.
