The Contribution of Communication Sciences to Intermediation Professions
This event has already taken place!
While the “One Health” concept aims to integrate the human, animal, and environmental dimensions of health, its implementation reveals a variety of perspectives that are often at odds with one another. This session will address the communication challenges inherent in this approach, highlighting the strategic importance of intermediation in bridging knowledge gaps, fostering interdisciplinary cooperation, and building a truly inclusive and sustainable global health initiative.
Nicolas Duracka is an associate professor of information and communication sciences at Paul Valéry University of Montpellier and researches the communication processes of agents of social change. Currently, he is examining the communication dynamics of actors involved in the One Health approach. He studies international public health as a field undergoing profound transformation, arguing that human health can only be guaranteed if animals and our ecosystems are also healthy. Consequently, the success of this paradigm shift depends on improving communication among the various spheres of human, animal, and environmental health.
