After centuries of obscurity, the Olympic Games were symbolically revived in Greece in 1896. Today, the Olympic Games are the world's premier event, propelling a city and a country into the spotlight, as will be the case with Paris 2024. Rooted in ever-changing political and geopolitical contexts and bearing the marks of social and societal change, the Olympic and Paralympic Games are a showcase for world, national, and even regional history, with each Olympiad offering a glimpse into an era. The athletes' achievements in the arena and their many echoes will be presented at this conference, allowing us to recall unique moments and discover enlightening stories.
