After centuries of obscurity, the Olympic Games were symbolically revived in Greece in 1896. Today, the Olympic Games are the world’s premier event, propelling a city and a country into the spotlight, as is the case with Paris 2024. Rooted in ever-changing political and geopolitical contexts and bearing the marks of social and societal shifts, the Olympic and Paralympic Games serve as a showcase for global, national, and even regional history, with each Games offering a glimpse into a specific era. The athletes’ feats in the arena and their far-reaching impact will be explored during this conference, allowing us to revisit unique moments and discover illuminating stories.
