, Montpellier-Sète University Institute of Technology
On May 18, 2018, construction will officially begin on a space entirely dedicated to apprenticeships on the Montpellier-Sète University Institute of Technology campus. This highly symbolic groundbreaking ceremony will be attended by all those involved in the project, who have been working since 2015 to develop an unprecedented apprenticeship program in the region.
Over 3,000 m² dedicated to learning
This work-study center will house an administrative center and innovative educational spaces (such as learning labs). Its construction goes hand in hand with the CROUS's building of a residence for work-study students in the immediate vicinity. In total, more than 3,000 m² will be dedicated to learning on the north campus of the University of Montpellier.
The cost of the work on the work-study center is around €2 million. It is being financed by the Program for Future Investments (action "vocational training through work-study programs" managed by the Caisse des Dépôts on behalf of the State), the Occitanie/Pyrénées-Méditerranée region, Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole, and the CFA EnSup-LR. The project is being managed by the University of Montpellier, with Imagine Architecture acting as the project manager.
An unprecedented structure for regional learning
This project is the result of the creation of the CFA EnSup-LR in 2015 and the subsequent award of PIA funding to the Sud'@lternance project led by the CFA EnSup-LR. The CFA EnSup-LR is the result of cooperation between the region's four universities (University of Montpellier, Paul-Valéry Montpellier 3 University, University of Perpignan Via Domitia, and University of Nîmes) and two grandes écoles (Montpellier SupAgro and Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Chimie de Montpellier), supported by the Region and the Rectorate.
In order to strengthen this partnership dynamic, the six CFA Ensup-LR institutions chose to submit the Sud'@lternance project, which was selected. Its objective: to promote the development of apprenticeships and position the Region as a training hub for emerging professions (energy, water, chemistry, biomolecules, smart networks) by drawing on the region's innovative ecosystem (competitiveness clusters and research teams).
