The Martian by Ridley Scott

Synopsis:

During an expedition to Mars, astronaut Mark Watney (Matt Damon) is left for dead by his teammates after a storm forces them to make an emergency takeoff. But Mark survived and is now alone, with no way to leave, on a hostile planet. He will have to use his intelligence and ingenuity to try to survive and find a way to contact Earth. 225 million kilometers away, NASA and scientists around the world are working tirelessly to save him, while his teammates attempt to organize a mission to rescue him at the risk of their own lives.

Meeting/debate with:

  • astronomer Gérard Jasniewicz from the Montpellier Universe and Particles Laboratory (LUPM);
  • Astrophysicist Julien Morin from the Montpellier Universe and Particles Laboratory (LUPM);
  • Chemist Laurent Boiteau from the Max Mousseron Biomolecules Institute.

The debate aims to discuss the possibilities of life elsewhere on Earth, the origins of life, exoplanets, and provide insights into the film.
