The Martian by Ridley Scott
Synopsis:
During a mission to Mars, astronaut Mark Watney (Matt Damon) is left for dead by his crewmates after a storm forces them to make an emergency evacuation. But Mark survived and is now alone, with no way to return, on a hostile planet. He will have to rely on his intelligence and ingenuity to try to survive and find a way to contact Earth. 225 million kilometers away, NASA and scientists around the world are working tirelessly to save him, while his crewmates attempt to organize a mission to rescue him, risking their own lives.
Talk and discussion with:
- astronomer Gérard Jasniewicz of the Montpellier Laboratory of the Universe and Particles (LUPM);
- astrophysicist Julien Morin of the Montpellier Laboratory of the Universe and Particles (LUPM);
- chemist Laurent Boiteau of the Max Mousseron Institute of Biomolecules.
The discussion aims to explore the possibility of life elsewhere on Earth, the origins of life, and exoplanets, as well as to provide insights into the film.
