The Observatoire de recherche montpelliérain de l'environnement (Montpellier environmental research observatory) is offering a series of short, multi-disciplinary lectures designed to raise awareness and encourage discussion on the issue of climate change.

The "Petites Conférences de l'OREME" are open to the public and give a voice to environmental, earth and planetary sciences.

On Thursday, December 14, 2023, from 1pm to 2pm on the Triolet campus, the University of Montpellier will be hosting the "Réchauffement climatique, on en parle pour agir!" conference. It will be presented by Christine Leredde, geophysicist and lecturer at the University of Montpellier.

The conference in a nutshell

After laying the scientific foundations of global warming, we'll review the advances made by the latest forecasting models and the different scenarios for greenhouse gas emissions. The presentation of model outputs, with so-called optimistic and pessimistic forecasts, will open the discussion on the political and social side, with in particular the choices made by the various participants at COP 27 (Conference of the Parties, Egypt, 2022).

Christine Leredde is a senior lecturer in the Geosciences Montpellier laboratory, attached to the Montpellier Faculty of Science in the Earth Water Environment teaching department. She is a geophysicist specializing in borehole measurements, particularly as applied to paleoclimatology.

Conference free of charge and without registration, subject to availability.
