Emma and Anaïs are inseparable, yet they are polar opposites. *Adolescentes* follows their journey from age 13 until they come of age—five years of life filled with transformations and first experiences. By the time they turn 18, we wonder what kind of women they have become and where their friendship stands. Through this chronicle of youth, the film also paints a portrait of France over the past five years.
