Movie Night: “Proxima”

Sarah is a French astronaut who is about to leave Earth for a year-long mission called Proxima. As she undergoes the rigorous training required of astronauts—the only woman among men—she is preparing, above all, to be separated from her 8-year-old daughter.

“The reason I made the film was to show a superheroine who is also a mother. Movies don’t often portray both of these things in the same person, as if they were incompatible… So Proxima’s message is that you can do both: be a mother and have a great career. It’s a message of liberation” — Alice Winocour.
