Performance and Meet-and-Greet: “Dancing in My Little Living Room Without Asking Myself Any Questions”

A presentation of one stage in the creation of the show “Dancing in My Little Living Room Without Asking Myself Any Questions,” followed by a discussion with the audience.

Event hosted by:

  • Maxime Potard, writer and actor with the Muerto Coco International Troupe;
  • Leonardo Montecchia, choreographer and director for the Compagnie de La Mentira.

The evening will conclude with a time of fellowship.

Artist Maxime Potard, currently on a micro-residency atUM, accompanied by choreographer Leonardo Montecchia, will give us a glimpse into a stage of his work-in-progress, “Danser dans mon petit salon sans me poser de question” (Dancing in My Little Living Room Without Asking Myself Any Questions), a poetic exploration that examines the concept of masculinity. This presentation will be followed by a discussion with the audience on gender stereotypes and education, with the aim of understanding how certain social constructs lead to the normalization of violence. The discussion will be punctuated by readings of anonymous testimonials collected fromUM students during interviews conducted on November 23 and 24.
